Pre-Work for Developing Your Leadership Mindset & Assessment Review Workshop

April 22

  • Complete the Pre-Competency Assessment by April 4. Watch for an email from hrdprograms@hrdleadership.com via SurveyMonkey <member@surveymonkeyuser.com>. You will receive a copy of your responses via email.
  • Complete your DiSC Assessment. You will have access to your results upon completion.
  • Review your DiSC Assessment report (pgs. 1-6).
  • Meet with your Accountability Partner. Discuss the following:
  • What do you want to gain from this development process? Name at least one SPECIFIC outcome.
  • What ground rules should we set?


Pre-Work for Adapting Your Style Workshop

May 13

  • Share your DiSC style with your team and manager.
  • Watch Find Your Why (Simon Sinek)
  • Meet with your Accountability Partner and discuss the following questions:
  • What is your authentic reaction to the Simon Sinek video? What’s your WHY? How can you use that to inform your Leadership Mission?
  • Begin talking NOW about your Leadership Mission. What questions do you have?
  • What strengths and opportunities for growth do you see in your DiSC report?
  • Work on your Leadership Mission.


Pre-Work for Communication in Leadership Workshop

June 12

  • Meet with your accountability partner to discuss the following questions regarding your Action Plan for Success (p. 9 of handouts):
  • What actions are you planning to adapt communication to someone else’s DiSC style?
  • What obstacles are you planning ahead for?
  • What outcomes do you anticipate? 


Pre-Work for Giving & Receiving Feedback Workshop

July 15

  • Practice using your new brain-based tools.
  • Be prepared to share at least 2 examples next time of how you have done so.
  • Listen to Quick Thinks: All Effective Communication Must Start With This (Episode 25 of Think Fast, Talk Smart) and meet with your accountability partner to discuss these questions:​
  • What connections do you see between the questions Matt Abrahams (the podcast host) suggests you should ask of your audience or listener and the information you’ve learned in our workshop about the importance of connecting to someone’s prior experience in order to communicate effectively?



Pre-Work for Leading Change Workshop

August 28

  • Give the feedback (positive and constructive) you identified you need to give​
  • Watch: The Secret to Giving Great Feedback – Ted Talk
  • Meet with your accountability partner to discuss​:
  • Based on the Ted Talk, The Secret to Giving Great Feedback, what insights did you gain about how you’ve been giving feedback in the past and how you can improve your approach to offering feedback in the future?
  • How did the feedback go?
  • What did you learn about how you might approach it differently next time?


Pre-Work for Leading through Conflict Workshop

September 22

  • Execute the Switch Change Framework for the change you identified.
  • Identify behaviors you can adapt to better manage change.
  • Meet with your Accountability Partner.
  • Keep thinking about your Leadership Mission!


Pre-Work for Post-Assessment Review and Celebration Workshop

October 23

  • Keep thinking about your Leadership Mission!
  • Complete your post-competency assessment (you'll receive the email on 9/23)
  • Practice stepping back (employ the 5-second rule!) and reframing your automatic thoughts.
  • Be prepared to share an example of doing so in our next workshop.
  • Choose two productive conflict behaviors to focus on (one you’re already good at, and one you’d like to cultivate).
  • Listen to Reframing Your Reality (Part 1): Episode from Hidden Brain podcast.
  • Meet with your accountability partner/triad and discuss the following questions:
  • What was your favorite example from the podcast about how our mindset (i.e., how we frame our reality) impacts our decisions and interactions with others?
  • How can you put this insight to use in your professional environment?
