Pre-Work for Growth Mindset Workshop

February 25

  • Complete the Pre-Competency Assessment by 2/20 (see steps below)
  • Complete your DiSC Assessment by 2/20 (see steps below)
  • Review your DiSC Assessment report (pgs. 1-6)
  • Bring back any questions about your Capstone for next time
  • Meet with your Accountability Partner. Discuss the following questions:
  • Thinking about the colleague you’d clone, which of those characteristics are skills vs. habits vs mindsets? Which are fully in your control?
  • What insights do you have about your growth based on the results of your skills assessment?
  • What areas will you prioritize working on through this program?


DiSC and Pre-Competency Assessment Steps

DiSC Workplace Assessment

The DiSC Workplace Assessment provides valuable insight into who you are and how you lead. You will use the assessment report throughout the program. There is a sample DiSC email (*below) so you know what to expect. It will come from HRD Leadership <hrdleadership@wiley-epic.com>.


The assessment takes less than 20 minutes to complete. You will need to complete your assessment by February 20 and you will have immediate access to your results upon completion. Once completed, please review your DiSC Assessment report (pages 1-6).

Pre-Competency Assessment

The pre-competency assessment will establish a baseline for your confidence and competence-level on a variety of leadership competencies. Please watch for an email from hrdprograms@hrdleadership.com via SurveyMonkey <member@surveymonkeyuser.com>. The pre-assessment takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Please complete by February 20.



Pre-Work for Personal Awareness Workshop

March 25

  • Share your values with a trusted colleague and your manager.
  • Identify 2-3 situations that are likely to trigger below-the-line thoughts and/or behaviors. Reframe your below-the-line thoughts to above-the-line ones.
  • EX: “When X triggers me, rather than my usual thought of THIS, I will practice telling myself THIS.”
  • Sample reframed statements:
  • I don’t need to be perfect to be effective.
  • I can ask one good question instead of having all the answers.
  • This is uncomfortable, not dangerous.
  • Meet with your Accountability Partners. Discuss the following questions:
  • What are your values, and what specific ways will you call on them in your day-to-day life?
  • What insights have you gleaned about the role of mindset in your life?


Pre-Work for Maximize Your Day Workshop

April 22

  • Finish plotting your team members on the DiSC wheel (in handout), and answer the questions about gaps, strengths, and tensions. 
  • Complete the Action Plan for Success in your handouts.​
  • Watch The Golden Rule Goes Platinum (Angela McMillan/TedX)
  • Meet with your accountability partner to discuss the following questions :
  • What actions are you planning to adapt communication to someone else’s DiSC style?
  • What obstacles are you planning ahead for?
  • How did insights from Angela McMillan’s TedX talk help inform these choices? ​
  • Generate 3-5 real tasks you do in your role (daily/weekly/quarterly). Bring your list to our next workshop.
